FAQ

1. Do you provide training for Tile3D users?

No, we don't, because there is no need in it. Tile3D is easy to use and has a user-friendly interface. A usual designer or tile sales assistant will quickly master the program using the program's demo and video tutorials. Moreover, in Tile3D you can open "Help" section by pressing F1 button.

2. How can I learn to work with Pov-Ray render?

On our website in "Downloads" section you can a video tutorial "How to work with Render function".

3. During the export to Pov-Ray the following error message appears: "file access denied "

This happens due to the problem with access rights.

The error can be eliminated in one of the following ways:

  1. You can uninstall the program, delete all program directories and install it again. When you install the program, you should right click the program's installation file and select PROPERTIES. In application properties window, go to COMPATIBILITY tab and check the option "Run this program as an administrator" in Privilege Level section. Then click Apply and OK to save the change.
  2. You can run the program as an administrator by right-clicking the program's shortcut and selecting "Run as administrator".
  3. You can run the program as an administrator by default. In order to that, you should right-click the program's shortcut and select PROPERTIES. In application properties window, go to COMPATIBILITY tab, and check the option "Run this program as an administrator" in Privilege Level section. Then click Apply and OK to save the change.
  4. The problem with access rights can be omitted, if you install the program in root directory C:\ .

4. The program has been registered, but now it is available only in demo mode. Why did this happen and what should I do?

Please check the program's HARDWARE ID by starting the program and selecting "Help" → "Registration". If HARDWARE ID has changed, then it explains the fact that the program is available only in demo mode.

HARDWARE ID can change if you:

  • change or upgrade your PC;
  • change or upgrade your operating system;
  • redistribute your hard disk space;
  • change one Windows user to another.

In this case you should re-register the program by sending a registration request to info@tile3d.com. Due to the above mentioned reasons you serial key could be replaced twice. If you need to replace a serial key more than twice, you should buy an additional workstation license.

Before sending the registration request you should start the program and make sure that the HARDWARE ID hasn't changed. If the HARDWARE ID hasn't changed, you should send the registration request.

Registration key is unique and tied to the HARDWARE ID. Therefore, it could be used to register the program only on one workstation.

5. Unable to register the program using the registration key. The program continues to remain in a demo mode.

This could happen due to one of the following reasons:

  1. You are trying to register the wrong program version. Please make sure that you are trying to register the same version that you have purchased. Moreover, you should specify the right program version in the registration request.
  2. At the time of registration your HARDWARE ID is not the same as the HARDWARE ID that was specified in the registration request. Restart your computer, run the program and make sure that the HARDWARE ID hasn't changed. This HARDWARE ID should be sent in the request.
  3. You have not enough rights to create a file with the key. In this case it is recommended to install and run the program as an administrator (for Windows Vista and Windows 7). Or after installing the program you can run the program as an administrator by default. In order to that, you should right-click the program's shortcut and select PROPERTIES. In application properties window, go to COMPATIBILITY tab, and check the option "Run this program as an administrator" in Privilege Level section. Then click Apply and OK to save the change. Moreover, it is recommended to install the program in root directory C:\ .
  4. Maybe you have copied the key not completely or incorrectly. Not all browsers display the letter content correctly. Please copy the key from the message more carefully using the keyboard (Shift + "Arrow").
  5. Microsoft Outlook sometimes displays the key incorrectly. Please do not use this application to receive and copy the key.

6. Is there a network version of the program?

There is no network version of Tile3D. The program works only on local machines.

If you want to install the program on several computers, you can buy additional workstation licenses. If your computer is in a local network, it is possible to open the projects that are located on the other computers.

7. Is it possible to use in the program some 3D models that were downloaded not from your website?

Basically, Tile3D uses 3D models in 3DT format. It is also possible to use some 3DS models. To verify the correct operation of 3DS models and convert them to 3DT format, you should use a 3DT Maker utility. It is distributed and installed together with Tile3D software.

8. Is it possible to change the size of 3D models in the program? For example, can I increase the height of the shower cabin that I have downloaded from your website?

No, it is impossible to change the size of 3D models in Tile3D.

9. How can I add tile to the program?

In Tile 3D you can use tile collections from our data base that consists of more than 8000 tile collections.

In order to import a tile collection to the program at first you should download it in the "Collections" section using your login and password. Then unzip the downloaded archive.

After that you should start the program and select "Table" → "Materials". In the appeared window you'll see all tile collections that are already in the program. Right click the "Tile" string and select "New subordinate element" in the context menu. On the right, in the "Name" line type a name, for example a tile manufacturer name. Thus, you have created a section that will store all tile collections of the respective manufacturer. Then right click on the manufacturer's name in the list, select "Import", specify the XLS- or CSV-file of the tile collection that you want to import and wait till the import is completed.

You can prolong the access to downloading tile collections and 3d objects by purchasing "1-year free support through the Internet" on our website.

Moreover, you can add you tile pictures to the program by yourself. The procedure is the same as when you import a tile collection downloaded from the website. But instead of importing a XLS-/CSV-file you should specify the tile name, height, width, etc. and upload the tile image by yourself.

Tile adding function is switched off in the demo, but the process of tile adding is clearly demonstrated in the following video tutorial: "How to add tiles to the program".

10. Is it possible to download all tile collections in a single file?

No, there is no sense in filling the program's catalog with gigabytes of unnecessary tile collections.

11. On your website I haven't found some tile collections I need. Some tile collections on the website are not full. What should I do?

We are trying to add on Tile3D website as many tile collections as possible. However, most of world tile manufacturers are constantly expanding their product range. Therefore, some tile collections may not be present on the website or they may become outdated. In that case you can send a request for adding/updating a tile collection at info@tile3d.com.

In the request you should specify:

  • Name of the tile manufacturer;
  • Name of the tile collection;
  • Links to the tile manufacturer/supplier website, when we can find tile textures and sizes.

12. How can I transfer my tile database from one computer to another?

Tile database is located in the DATA subdirectory of the program's main directory. Tile3D main directory is usually located in the directory C:\Program Files\ or in the root directory C:\.

In order to transfer the database you should close the program, delete the content of the DATA subdirectory and copy the content of the DATA subdirectory from another computer to your DATA subdirectory. Then you should start the program and launch data optimization by selecting "File" → "Data optimization" → "Files of textures" and wait till the data optimization will be completed. After that you can check if the database was transferred or not.

13. I'm using MS Office and I can't import tile collections to the program. During the import the following error message appears: "Invalid class string".

Please find out what MS Office version are you using.

MS Office 2010 Starter doesn't support OLE Automation. This technology is used to during tile import in Tile3D.

The error can be eliminated in one of the following ways:

  1. You can install MS Office 2010 Professional;
  2. You can install other MS Office versions that support OLE Automation;
  3. You can install OpenOffice and AutomateIt! utility (it allows Tile 3D to work with OpenOffice).

14. What are the minimum and recommended hardware requirements for Tile3D and Tile3D+RENDER?

You can find the minimum and recommended hardware requirements in the "System requirements" section.

Tile3D and Tile3D+RENDER have the same video card requirements. However, Tile3D+RENDER has higher CPU requirements, because CPU characteristics affect rendering speed. Therefore, it is recommended to use multi-core processors (for POV-Ray v. 3.7). The more cores your CPU has, the faster will be the speed of rendering.

15. Possible problems with video card settings

Please pay attention to the following video card settings:

  • "Anisotropic Filtering" — "Use Application Setting" — should be enabled
  • "Adaptive Anti-Aliasing" — should be disabled

Recommendations:

  • Check if you have installed the original drivers for your video card. If not, you should install them.
  • Using OpenGL Extensions Viewer you should test if your video card supports OpenGl 1.5 or not.

If you have a laptop, it is recommended to use a video card not worse than Radeon X300, with PCI Express bus. Radeon HD 4600 series video cards have proved to be a good choice.

Some video cards on laptops do not support all OpenGL modes correctly. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to test the program's demo on a laptop.
